We follow a transparent and rigorous evaluation to ensure fairness and integrity:

Step 1
Initial Review

Submissions are reviewed for eligibility and completeness.

Step 2
Expert Jury Evaluation

A jury of global experts in health, wellbeing, energy, and innovation will assess entries using a standardized scoring framework.

Step 3
Shortlisting

Top applicants will be shortlisted based on impact, alignment with criteria, and innovation.

Step 4
Winner Selection

The jury will select one winner for the $1 Million Award.

Open to organizations operating in the energy sector anywhere in the world. Eligible applicants may include private companies, non-profit organizations, or joint initiatives and partnerships.

All applications must be received by 30 September 2025, 5pm, Gulf Standard Time.

Submissions should be in English only.

All application details will remain confidential and used solely for evaluation.

The $1 Million prize must be used to sustain, scale, or evolve the submitted wellbeing initiative. The organisers reserve the right to verify claims and request supporting documents.

RPM and Burjeel Holdings reserve the right to verify claims and request supporting documents.

Finalists and winners agree to share their stories for learning, inspiration, and awareness across the industry (with prior approval). These stories may also be featured in our promotional and marketing materials to showcase best practices in employee wellbeing.

John Deftorios

Award-winning journalist, analyst

John Defterios is veteran, award winning journalist and economic analyst with more than 35 years of experience at CNN, Reuters and PBS Television in the United States. John recently retired as CNN Business’ Emerging Markets Editor and Anchor. Based in the network’s Abu Dhabi bureau since 2011, his reporting focused on the top business stories from emerging economies, with a specialty in trade, geo-politics and energy.

He is a Strategic Senior Advisor for the global public affairs firm APCO Worldwide, board member in media and the youth development arenas, Professor of Business at NYU-Abu Dhabi and World Economic Forum Energy Fellow.

Dr Richard Heron

Chair of the Jury

For over 15 years, as VP Health and CMO Dr Richard Heron led BP’s global health agenda. This included wellbeing, occupational health, industrial hygiene, and public health in over 65 countries. He has held prior health, safety, and risk management leadership roles with AstraZeneca.

Now consulting, Richard is co-chair of IOMSC, an association of 47 National OH Societies, representing 70% of the world’s workers. He is on the NHS Expert Advisory Group for employee health and wellbeing, and the UK National Wellbeing Forum. He has recently joined the Global Wellbeing Advisory Board at Champion Health. He has also worked on expert advisory groups for departments of Health, Work and Pensions, and PHE.

A past-President of both Faculty and Society of Occupational Medicine, he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London and Edinburgh), the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and a Senior Founding Fellow of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management.

Richard is an honorary professorial fellow of International Business and Health, University of Nottingham. His specialist interests include leadership, health, work and organisations, and work-related mental health.

Vinay Menon

Wellness Coach

Vinay Menon is a globally experienced wellness coach known for his holistic approach to enhancing the physical and mental performance of elite athletes. With a proven track record at top-tier football institutions, including Chelsea FC and the Belgium National Team at FIFA World Cup 2022, his work focuses on long-term wellbeing, resilience, and high performance.

Winner of the Founders Special Recognition at the 5th Asian Football Awards 2024, Vinay integrates advanced recovery methods, mindfulness, and performance analysis into tailored wellness programs. His methodology reflects the core values of human energy, aiming to elevate both individual and team outcomes through sustainable health strategies.
